Q. What is GracePointe Cares?
A. GracePointe Cares is our first annual day of service initiative. It's our congregation’s chance to serve those in the community around us and share the love of Jesus with Williamsburg. We will have projects taking place throughout the day and throughout the area! The goal is for the ENTIRE church to be out and serving those around us!
Q. When is GracePointe Cares taking place?
A. GracePointe Cares will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Times will vary by project.
Q. Who is leading/organizing GracePointe Cares? I can’t take the suspense!
A. Luke Swanson and Chris Neary are organizing the event, along with several other talented individuals leading their projects.
Q. How do I contact Luke Swanson and/or Chris Neary? They sound super awesome!
A. Luke can be reached at [email protected] or 443-624-0793. Chris can be reached at or 757-810-3290.
Q. Where will GracePointe Cares take place?
A. Projects will happen at Greenwood Christian Academy and other locations throughout the Williamsburg area.
Q. What projects are happening during GracePointe Cares?
A. Please see the projects list on the GracePointe app for more information. Projects are subject to change, depending on the number of volunteers willing to take part and/or whether a project leader can be found.
Q. Is a hot dog a sandwich?
A. I’m not sure that really matters. Classify as you will.
Q. How do I sign up for a project?
A. Sign-up via paper form or the online form, accessible via the GracePointe app.
Q. When can I sign up?
A. Sign-up starts on Sunday, September 1 2024.
Q. What happens after I sign up for a project?
A. As the event date (October 19th) gets closer, the project leaders will receive a list of their volunteers and their contact info. They will then reach out to the people on their project with additional details. Project leaders should receive their list of volunteers by October 5th.
Q. What happens if a project doesn’t have a project leader?
A. Leading an event of this size is a lot of work and trying to coordinate several projects from the top is inefficient. Each project needs to have its own project leader; this person is the point of contact for the people working that project and helps ensure a smooth event when the day arrives. For that reason, only projects that have project leaders will be a part of GracePointe Cares.
Q. What if I need childcare? Are kids allowed to volunteer?
A. We will be providing childcare for children 5 and under during the event. Children 6 and older are encouraged to serve with their parents, wherever feasible. Children responsible enough to serve on their own are encouraged to complete a separate sign-up form and select their project. Children that will be serving with their parent can be listed as part of their parent’s sign-up form.
Q. Is it going to rain that day?
A. We sure hope not! But, that’s out of our control. Regardless, the event will still happen and we’re confident it will still be a great day.
Q. Do my shoes look good today?
A. I’m sure they do!
Q. Will we be doing t-shirts for the event?
A. That’s the plan! When you sign up for your project, you will also provide your shirt size. These will be provided at no cost to volunteers.
Q. You didn’t answer my question here, what do I do??
A. Please contact Luke Swanson or Chris Neary for more information!
